The Hunterian : Old Ways New Roads

At Buchanan Drive Digital, we take great pleasure in collaborating with established design agencies to deliver scalable and robust web solutions for their end-clients. For this project, we had the privilege of being enlisted by the exceptional stand.agency, which operates out of Glasgow and Amsterdam.

The client, in this case, was the esteemed Hunterian Museum and Art Gallery, a vital constituent of Glasgow University.

The project was conceived to complement the publication of ‘Old Ways New Roads: Travels in Scotland 1720-1832‘, an illustrated compendium providing rich and diverse insights into the experiences of travellers and tourists to Scotland, from the military occupation of the 18th century through to the advent of modern tourism.

Initially scheduled for 2020, the pandemic necessitated that the exhibition be moved online. Our team, in partnership with stand.agency and the Hunterian staff, worked tirelessly to curate an expansive, user-friendly digital repository brimming with paintings, illustrations, maps, antiquities, videos, lectures, and more.
